The Therapeutic Area Passport answers "what does the landscape for this disease look like?" by mapping its target landscape, approved drugs, pipeline candidates, literature trends, and safety considerations into one disease-centric report. You give it a single disease name, and generate it when you want the whole picture of an area rather than assembling it target by target. Gathering the landscape, compounds, literature, and safety data yourself covers the same ground, but the passport pulls from that fixed source set and links out to the individual target and compound passports it surfaces. See [what a passport is](/docs/passports-explained) for the model behind these.

## Therapeutic Area Passport

The Therapeutic Area Passport provides a disease-centric view that maps the target landscape, approved drugs, pipeline candidates, literature trends, and safety considerations for a given disease.

> The Therapeutic Area Passport requires the **Flourish plan or higher**.

## Input

- **Format**: Disease name (e.g., "Non-small cell lung cancer"), 2–200 characters
- **Duration**: 10–45 seconds
- **Access**: Flourish plan or higher

## Data Sources Aggregated

### Target Landscape

Disease-associated protein targets from BioBERT with:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| Validation level | Clinical > Genetic > Preclinical > Literature |
| Druggability | High (≥3 drugs) / Medium (1–2 drugs) / Low (no drugs) |
| Existing drug count | Number of approved drugs targeting the protein |
| Target passport link | Direct link to the target's individual passport |

### Compound Landscape

- Approved drugs with mechanism of action, approval year, and target genes
- Pipeline candidates with clinical and preclinical counts

### Literature Intelligence

- Total and recent publication counts
- Trending research topics
- Key opinion leaders (most-published authors)
- Emerging targets gaining research attention

### Safety Considerations

Drug class-level adverse event patterns:
- Frequency and severity by drug class
- Affected drug classes in the therapeutic area
- Class-level warning patterns

## Sections Displayed

1. **Disease Overview** — name, synonyms, unmet medical need assessment
2. **Target Landscape** — table with validation level + druggability rating
3. **Approved Drugs** — mechanisms of action + approval years
4. **Pipeline & Clinical Trials** — candidate counts by development stage
5. **Literature & Trends** — publications, trending topics, key opinion leaders
6. **Safety Landscape** — class-level warnings and adverse event patterns

## Canvas Visualization

- **Card size**: 300×250px
- **Border color**: Brown (#795548)
- **Tier 2 metrics**: Target count, compound count, pipeline stage, disease area

## Chat Usage

### Example Prompts

- "Generate a therapeutic area passport for non-small cell lung cancer"
- "What does the target landscape look like for Alzheimer's disease?"
- "Build a disease report for triple-negative breast cancer"

### Workflow Chaining

- **Accepts from**: Clinical trials search, BioBERT literature analysis, free-text disease queries
- **Feeds into**: Individual Target Passports for identified targets, Compound Passports for approved drugs
